The Cheek Implant Procedure

Dr. Gendler will then create a pocket in which to insert the implant. A titanium screw may be used to affix the implant to the existing cheekbone. During the surgery, the implant may be inserted and removed several times so that Dr. Gendler can reshape it for maximum aesthetic results. When the implant is properly shaped and placed, the incisions will be sutured and the surgery will be complete.

Your Cheek Implant Recovery

As with all invasive cosmetic surgery procedures, some swelling and discoloration should be expected. This is your bodys natural immune response. However, most of this swelling should subside within the first week. Some degree of swelling may continue for a few months, but excessive swelling or discoloration is abnormal. Pain medication and antibiotics will be prescribed for you and a detailed list of post-op instructions will be provided for you to follow to help ensure that your recovery goes well and that complications are avoided. The final results of a cheek implant procedure can take up to three or four months before they are apparent, so patience is crucial to this process.
