How Perlane works

Perlane is one of several injectable skin treatments available on the market. The active ingredient in Perlane is hyaluronic acid, which is a chemical the body naturally produces to keep skin tight and full. Perlane is injected into the skin with a very fine needle, restoring the level of hyaluronic acid to the trouble area. When this level is restored, the skin lifts and wrinkles are smoothed out.

Perlane and Juvederm both have the same active ingredient. However, Perlane has proven more effective on deeper-set wrinkles. This is partially due to Perlane's greater thickness and texture. At your initial consultation and examination, Dr. Gendler will be able to advise you as to which type of filler will work best for you. He may recommend more than one type of filler depending on how much work you wish to have done.

Your Perlane procedure

Perlane treatments typically last under an hour, and may only last a couple minutes if only a few injections are necessary. Many of our patients receive Perlane treatments over their lunch break and are back to work immediately afterward. A very small needle is used to minimize any discomfort. Some redness and swelling around the treated area should be expected, but this should go away within a couple days. The effects of the treatment can last several months. You will need follow-up treatments in order to maintain your new look.
